Before Jessica Alba became an A-list actress or was hailed the Sexiest Woman of the Year, she was a sickness-prone child who landed a few TV commercials and small series parts. he struck gold in 2000 when she was handpicked by Titanic director James Cameron to be the star of his sci-fi series Dark Angel. At the age of 18, Alba became engaged to older costar Michael Weatherly, but the two split in 2003. She later said, “I don’t know [why I got engaged]. I was a virgin. He was 12 years older than me. To further explain how disappointing that is, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, which has been in theaters for seven weeks and is showing on half as many screens, made just $1 million less.
Joining the Desperate Housewives star in the losers club was Jessica Alba and her film The Eye, which was just four years too late in jumping on the Japanese horror movie bandwagon. The weekend’s big winner was predictably Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour, which made $29 million on just 683 screens, securing a place in the record books. For every screen that showed the film, $42,459 was made — the previous top seed was Spider-Man 3, which made $35,540 on 4,252 screens in 2007.
Additionally since tickets for the limited engagement sold out faster than you can text message this news to your BFF, expect next weekend’s numbers to look very similar to these, pretty much solidifying Miley Cyrus’ plans for world domination.
